Agricultural Training Courses at CATIC

 Training courses are based on proven production methods developed on the Cheptebo farm over the past 33 years. The centre specialises in agricultural production particularly relevant to the semi arid areas. Training includes classroom instruction but course participants will spend the majority of the time on practical learning within the project farm. Over 1000 farmers have already completed short term training modules at CATIC and many have gone on to establish successful farming enterprises.

Short Term Courses     
Five day courses provide an introduction to all aspects of farming in the semi-arid areas. Further five day course covering more specific aspects of farming can be arranged for groups on demand.

Certificate Courses.      
These courses provide classroom and practical training in specific areas of farming. Course duration is either six months or one academic year. This will include a period of attachment to enable course participants to gain further agricultural experience.

Cheptebo Farm Tours. 
The farm is available for demonstration and training organised groups on day visits. Contact the Training Coordinator for further information.

​Meet the CATIC Teaching Staff
Most of the teaching and practical training is undertaken by Cheptebo Farm staff who have many years of practical experience in semi arid  agricultural production and continue to be involved in the running of the farm. Where appropriate, other specialist trainers with particular expertise are brought in to provide training in some subject areas.
